Description

This rare depiction shows a legend about a cleric who, despite serious illnesses, continued to pray tirelessly to the Mother of God. The Mother of God appeared to him and allowed milk to flow from her breast, curing him instantly. The icon was important in Orthodox hospitals, where many chapels were dedicated to it.
